About Glitch Text Generator

Confileo's Glitch Text Generator tool creates glitch and zalgo cursed text you can copy and paste anywhere. Everything runs in your browser, free and without signup, and your files are deleted automatically after processing.

Glitch text — also called zalgo, cursed or corrupted text — is the effect where letters sprout accent marks above and below until the line looks like it is breaking apart. It turns up in horror-themed usernames, Discord and Twitch chat, creepypasta writing, ARG puzzles, and anywhere a caption is supposed to feel wrong. It reads as a rendering fault, which is the whole appeal.

It is not a fault, and it is not an image. Every one of those marks is a real Unicode combining diacritic — the same class of character that puts the accent on é. Combining marks attach to the letter before them and, crucially, there is no limit on how many can stack. Piling a dozen onto one letter produces something the font has to draw above and below the line, which is where the overflow comes from. Because they are ordinary characters, the result copies and pastes like any other text.

Two intensities are offered because they are useful in different places. Light adds one or two marks per letter: the line still reads cleanly and stays inside its row, which is what you want for a username or a title that has to be legible. Heavy stacks up to six per letter for the full corrupted look, better suited to a one-off caption than to anything someone has to read.

The output here is deterministic. Ask for the same text twice and you get the same glitch, because the mark placement runs from a seeded generator rather than from a random number. That sounds like a detail and is not: with true randomness the text re-scrambles on every keystroke, so the line crawls while you type and the string you copy is not the one you were looking at when you decided you liked it.

Two limits worth knowing before you paste. Some apps cap how many combining marks they will render per character, so a heavy glitch can look tamer on one platform than another — Twitter and Instagram both clamp the vertical overflow so it cannot cover neighbouring posts. And a few services reject usernames containing combining marks outright; if a name is refused, the light intensity usually passes where heavy does not.

Everything runs in your browser, so the text you type is never uploaded and nothing is stored.

Glitch Text Generator — Frequently asked questions

What is zalgo text?

Zalgo is text with Unicode combining accent marks stacked on every letter until it overflows above and below the line. The marks are ordinary characters of the same class that puts the accent on e-acute; there is no limit on how many can stack on one letter, which is where the corrupted look comes from. It copies and pastes like any other text.

Why does my glitch text look less intense after pasting?

Some apps cap how many combining marks they render per character, and Twitter and Instagram both clamp the vertical overflow so it cannot cover neighbouring posts. The characters are all still there — the platform is choosing not to draw them all. The light intensity looks the same almost everywhere.

Can I use glitch text in a username?

Often, but not always: some services reject usernames containing combining marks. If a name is refused, try the light intensity first, which passes where heavy is rejected. Discord and most game name fields accept both.

Does the glitch change every time?

No. The mark placement is generated from a seed rather than at random, so the same text always produces the same glitch. That is deliberate — with true randomness the text would re-scramble on every keystroke and the string you copied would not match the one you were looking at.

Is this tool really free?

Yes. Every Confileo tool is free to use with no daily caps, no watermark on your output and no credit card required.
