The thing that ruins most converted spreadsheets is not colour, it is width. A sheet wider than the page splits mid-table and continues onto pages nobody can read. Set the print area in Excel before you convert: landscape orientation for wide tables, and Fit All Columns on One Page under the scaling options. Ten seconds there is the difference between a one-page report and twelve unusable ones.
What the PDF locks, and why that is the point: calculated values appear, formulas do not. The recipient sees the numbers without being able to trace your method, edit a cell, or break a reference by accident. Are all the worksheets converted?

How do I stop a large table being split across pages?
Splitting comes from the table being wider than the page. In Excel, narrow the columns, switch the sheet to landscape, or set a print area — the PDF reproduces exactly those settings.
Do formulas appear in the PDF?
No. The PDF shows calculated results rather than the formulas behind them, exactly as the sheet would print. That is usually the point: the recipient sees the numbers, not your workings.
Is landscape orientation preserved?
Yes. Page setup defined in Excel — orientation, margins, print area and scaling — carries through to the PDF unchanged.
Does it support CSV files?
Open the CSV in Excel or LibreOffice and save it as XLSX first, then convert. That detour also lets you format the columns, which a raw CSV carries no information about.
Why not just send the Excel file?
Because it stays editable, columns shift between Excel versions, and formulas expose how you calculated. For a quote, invoice or report, the PDF is the final version everyone sees identically.
