The value of a recording is locked inside it. An hour-long interview, a lecture, a client call or a voice note cannot be searched, quoted or skimmed while it is only audio — finding one sentence means listening again from somewhere near where you think it was. Transcription turns the recording into text you can search, edit and quote.

You upload the audio file and receive the spoken content as text. Nothing is installed, and the original recording stays as it is on your device.

Recording conditions determine accuracy far more than any setting does. A phone lying on a table between two people picks up the room as loudly as the speakers; the same phone held closer to whoever is talking produces a transcript that needs almost no correction. Where you can influence the recording, that single change is worth more than everything else combined.

Two situations are genuinely hard for any transcription system, and it helps to expect them. Overlapping speech — people talking across each other in a meeting — cannot be separated cleanly, because the audio itself contains both voices in one channel. And specialist vocabulary, product names, and personal names are guessed phonetically, so a legal or medical recording will need a pass to correct terms that sound like ordinary words.

Read the result once against the audio for anything that will be quoted or relied on. Numbers deserve particular attention: dates, amounts and phone numbers are where a small mishearing changes the meaning completely, and they are the parts nobody notices while skimming.

If the recording is confidential, remember that a transcript is far easier to leak than an audio file — it can be copied, searched and pasted. Treat it with the same care as the recording. Your file is deleted from the server after processing.
