Make a small or blurry picture two or four times larger with Real-ESRGAN, which rebuilds sharp edges and texture instead of stretching the pixels. Modes for photos, drawings and documents.
- Real-ESRGAN rebuilds edges and texture, not a blurry stretch
- ×4 for pictures up to 0.8 megapixels (1024 × 768), ×2 up to 4.2
- A document mode that sharpens text without inventing letters
About Image Upscaler
Confileo's Image Upscaler tool enlarges a small or blurry picture two or four times with Real-ESRGAN, a neural network that rebuilds edges and texture instead of stretching the pixels, with modes for photos, for drawings and for documents. It works in any browser, free to start and without signup, and a file sent to our server is deleted automatically after processing.
Most pictures that need enlarging are small for a reason: a photo saved from a chat, a logo copied from a website, an old scan, a product shot from a supplier, a frame from a video. Stretched to the size of a print or a slide, they turn soft and blocky, and many upscalers either blur them or charge for each picture.
This tool runs Real-ESRGAN, an open model (BSD-3) from Tencent's ARC Lab that is widely used to restore and enlarge pictures, on our own server. It rebuilds what blur and compression took away: the edges of letters on a sign, hair, fabric, foliage, the outline of a product. ×4 turns a 1024 × 768 picture into 4096 × 3072; ×2 takes pictures up to 4.2 megapixels.
Three modes match three kinds of picture. Photo uses the general model. Drawing or anime uses the model trained on illustrations, which keeps flat colours flat and lines clean. Document does not use the network at all: a network invents strokes in small type, so text is enlarged with Lanczos and an unsharp mask that sharpens every letter without changing one.
The work runs tile by tile on our server's processors, seconds for a small picture and up to about two minutes for a large one, with the progress on the page. A before-and-after slider shows the original's pixels next to the result. Each picture uses 12 credits when it is ready, with no watermark.

Image Upscaler — Frequently asked questions
How is this different from resizing an image?
Resizing spreads the same pixels over a bigger area, so the picture gets bigger and softer. Real-ESRGAN is a neural network trained to undo blur, noise and JPEG blocks: it redraws edges, hair, fabric and leaves at the new size. It cannot bring back a detail that was never in the picture, such as a face a few pixels wide; what it gives is a sharp, believable version of what is there.
How large can the picture be?
×4 takes pictures up to 0.8 megapixels, about 1024 × 768, which become up to 4096 × 3072. ×2 takes pictures up to 4.2 megapixels, and no result is larger than 16.8 megapixels (4096 × 4096). Files can be up to 100 MB in JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP or TIFF. For a larger picture, crop the part you need first.
Why is there a separate mode for documents and screenshots?
A network trained on photographs invents strokes in small type: in our test, a line of a scanned page came back with a word changed. Document mode enlarges with Lanczos and sharpens each letter without redrawing any, so the words stay exactly as they were. Use it for scans, receipts, screenshots and anything else you need to read.
Which mode suits a logo or a cartoon?
Drawing or anime. It uses the Real-ESRGAN model made for illustrations, which keeps flat colours flat and lines clean, where the photo model would add texture that is not there.
How long does it take?
A small picture takes seconds; one near the ×4 limit takes up to about two minutes, because the network runs on our own server, tile by tile. The page shows the progress, and your place in line when others are ahead. Keep the page open until the result is ready: closing it cancels the job.
How much does it cost, and is there a watermark?
Each enlarged picture uses 12 credits, the rate of the heavy tools, and only when the result is ready: a cancelled or failed job uses nothing. There is no watermark. Without an account you get 50 free credits a month, and 300 with a free account.
Is this tool really free?
You can try it free: 50 credits without an account and 300 with a free account, renewed on the 1st of every month. Every tool uses credits — file tools 3 per file and the heavy ones 12. No watermark, no credit card. Beyond the monthly credits, Pro gives open use with no credits to count, or you can buy a credit pack.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use the tool straight away without signing up or logging in.
Are my files safe and private?
Yes. A file sent to our servers travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection and is deleted automatically after processing; tools that work in your browser never upload it. We don't open, read or sell your files.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser, so it works the same on desktop, tablet and mobile with nothing to install.
