The trouble starts when the finished thing needs one more change: a clause to reword, a figure to correct, a name to update in a contract someone sent as a PDF because that felt safer. Two checks are worth thirty seconds after every conversion. Look at the tables first: cells that were merged in the original are the most common thing to come across misaligned. Then look at the last page — content that overflowed a page boundary is where text most often ends up out of order, and it is the part people skip when skimming the result.
One habit saves rework: convert, edit, then export back to PDF for sending, rather than sending the DOCX. The recipient sees the layout you approved instead of whatever their font substitution produces. Your file is deleted from the server after processing.
