Make a name tracing worksheet in print, cursive or Arabic
Type your child's name, the alphabet or a list of words, choose dotted, outlined or faded letters and the guide lines, and print a sharp PDF. The sheet is drawn in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Made in your browser — nothing is uploaded. The PDF is vector and prints sharp on any printer.
Real dots down the middle of each stroke
The dots are traced from the letter shapes themselves, so joined cursive and Arabic get proper tracing lines, not hollow outlines.
School models and school lines
Print letters, cursive in ten national school models, Arabic Naskh and Ruqaa — on 4-line, 3-line, Seyès or Arabic ruling.
Print-ready vector PDF
A4 or US Letter, one page or many, sharp at any size. The child's name never leaves your device.
About Tracing Worksheet Generator
Confileo's Tracing Worksheet Generator tool turns a child's name, the alphabet or any list of words into a printable tracing sheet — dotted, dashed-outline or faded letters in school print, a country's school cursive, or Arabic Naskh and Ruqaa, on the guide lines you choose — and exports it as a vector PDF or a PNG. It is drawn in your browser without uploading a file, and a guest can start without signing up.
A tracing sheet works when it fits the child holding the pencil, and ready-made printables rarely do: they spell someone else's name, use a cursive the school does not teach, or come only in print. This generator builds the sheet from what you type. A parent can make one with a preschooler's name in a couple of minutes, a kindergarten or first-grade teacher can match the letter of the week, an occupational or speech therapist can set the exact words for a session, and an adult relearning cursive or practising Ruqaa can drill the letters that keep going wrong.
There are three modes. Name repeats one name on practice rows. Letters lays out the alphabet in capitals and small letters or, for Arabic, the 28 letters, each in its isolated, initial, middle and final form. Words & sentences takes any text, one item per line, which suits spelling lists, sight words, a short sentence to copy or the names of every child in a class. You see the sheet before you download it, and all of it happens in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and a child's name is never sent anywhere.
The tracing letters are generated, not taken from a dotted font. For dotted letters, the tool takes the real shape of each letter, finds the middle of every stroke and places a line of dots along it. That is why the same works for joined cursive, where the dots carry on through the joins, and for Arabic, where a word stays connected. The cursive models are Google's Playwrite fonts, drawn after the handwriting taught in schools in individual countries. The print style is based on Andika, a typeface SIL designed for beginning readers, with a one-storey a and g, the way children learn to write them.
Two more tracing styles sit beside the dots: a dashed outline, for hollow letters, and faded grey letters to write over. Each row can start with one solid model to copy, and empty ruled rows can follow for writing without help. Guide lines come as the 4-line school ruling, a 3-line ruling, the French Seyès grid, Arabic ruling with a letter band, a baseline only or none, in grey, blue, or red and blue. You choose the letter size (small, medium or large), how many times each item repeats, a header with a title and Name and Date fields, and A4 or US Letter.
The download is a print-ready vector PDF of one or several pages, so letters and lines stay sharp on a home printer, on the school copier or enlarged for a wall. A PNG of a page is there for a class app, a slide or a tablet, and the sheet can also be printed straight from the browser. Previewing is free and a guest can start without an account; the first download or print of a sheet uses credits, like the site's other tools, and while you stay on the page, downloading the same sheet again in the other format does not use more.
Some things it does not do, and they matter when you plan a lesson. There are no stroke-order arrows, numbered starting points or pictures, so show a child where each letter starts and which way it goes before they trace it. There is no UK precursive, no Australian state font, no D'Nealian or Zaner-Bloser, no Montessori colour-band ruling and no squared paper. And a font is a model, not your school's exact handout: if your child's class follows a particular program, print one sheet and compare a few letters, often the capitals, before making a whole set.

Tracing Worksheet Generator — Frequently asked questions
How do I make a name tracing worksheet?
Choose Name, type your child's name and pick a letter style: school print, a cursive model, or Arabic Naskh or Ruqaa. The name repeats along the practice rows in dotted, dashed-outline or faded grey letters, and each row can open with one solid copy to look at first. Add empty ruled rows for writing it without help, then download the PDF or print it. The name is drawn in your browser and never sent anywhere.
Can I make dotted cursive worksheets?
Yes. The dots are not a ready-made dotted font: they are placed along the middle of each stroke of the real letter, so a joined cursive word gets a dotted path through its joins too. The cursive comes from Google's Playwrite fonts, made for teaching handwriting, in the school model of the United States, Spain, Brazil, Italy, France (modern and traditional), Indonesia, Poland and Germany (Grundschrift and Lateinische Ausgangsschrift). None is an exact copy of D'Nealian or Zaner-Bloser, and there is no UK or Australian school font, so set one sheet beside your child's workbook and compare a few letters before you print a stack.
Can I make Arabic letter tracing sheets?
Yes. Letters mode gives the 28 Arabic letters, each in its isolated, initial, middle and final form, in school Naskh (Noto Naskh Arabic) or Ruqaa (Aref Ruqaa). Names and words work too, and because the dots follow the strokes of the joined word, the letters stay connected the way a hand writes them. Pick the Arabic ruling, a baseline with a band for the letters, so a child can see where each letter sits.
Which guide lines can I put under the letters?
Six kinds: the 4-line school ruling (top line, dashed middle line, baseline and a descender line for the tails of g, p and y), a 3-line ruling, Seyès (the French grid), Arabic ruling, a baseline only, or no lines. The lines can be grey, blue, or red and blue. Letters come small, medium or large, and you choose how many times each item repeats and whether empty practice rows follow.
What do I download, and will it print clearly?
A print-ready vector PDF of one or several pages, in A4 or US Letter. The letters and lines are drawn as shapes rather than pixels, so they stay sharp at any size, from a home printer to an enlarged copy for the classroom wall. You can also save a PNG of a page or print straight from the browser, and the optional header adds a title with Name and Date fields. Print as many copies as your class needs from the one PDF.
Is the tracing worksheet generator free?
Previewing is free, and a guest can start without an account. The first download or print of a sheet uses credits, like Confileo's other tools; while you stay on the page, downloading the same sheet again in the other format, PDF or PNG, or printing it again does not use more.
Is this tool really free?
You can try it free: 5 credits without an account and 10 more, once, with a free account; they do not renew. Every tool uses credits — file tools 3 per file and the heavy ones 12. No watermark, no credit card. After the trial, Pro gives open use with no credits to count, or you can buy a credit pack.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use the tool straight away without signing up or logging in.
Are my files safe and private?
Yes. A file sent to our servers travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection and is deleted automatically after processing; tools that work in your browser never upload it. We don't open, read or sell your files.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser, so it works the same on desktop, tablet and mobile with nothing to install.
