About PDF Editor

Most PDF edits are one small correction: a misspelled name, a wrong date, an amount, an address. Without an editor that means going back to the source file, if you still have it, or paying for desktop software.

It helps to be precise about what editing a PDF means, because the wrong expectation causes most of the frustration. PDF was never designed to be edited like a word processor document; it was designed to look identical everywhere. Correcting a line in place is what this editor does well. Text does not reflow, though: a much longer replacement is set smaller to fit its line, so for substantial content changes, convert to Word, edit there, and convert back.
The jobs that finish here in a minute: a name spelled wrong on a certificate or a letter, a date or a reference number that changed, an amount on a quote, an address on an invoice — any line that is wrong while the rest of the document is right. Filling in a form and signing are different jobs, with their own tools: Fill PDF Form and Sign PDF.
An important privacy warning: drawing a black rectangle over a number deletes nothing. The text stays underneath and can be copied or extracted with the simplest tool, which is the mechanism behind several well-documented leaks from official documents. To remove information — an ID number, a bank account, an address — use PDF redaction, which deletes the content instead of covering it.
Change one line and download a test copy before correcting a long document. Confirming early that the new text lands where you expect costs seconds; discovering it after twenty changes costs the whole job.
If the document also carries form fields or annotations and you are sending a final copy that should not be altered, run it through Flatten PDF afterwards. That fixes them into the page so they are no longer separate objects that can be dragged or deleted.

Can I fill in a PDF form?
Not with the editor, which changes text that is already on the page. Use Fill PDF Form, which types into the form’s own fields.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The editor works in your browser, free, without Adobe Acrobat or any app; the changes are applied on our server and the file is deleted automatically afterwards.
Can I sign a PDF or add an image?
Not in the editor. To add a signature, a stamp or an image, use Sign PDF, which places it on the page and fixes it there.
Can I delete or hide existing text in the PDF?
You can replace a line with different wording. To remove sensitive information for good — an ID number, an account, an address — use PDF Redaction, which deletes it from the file.
Will the corrected text match the original font?
Closely. The new text takes the size and colour of the line it replaces and a standard face of the same kind — serif or sans, bold or italic — and Arabic gets a Naskh or Sans Arabic face. On documents set in an unusual font the difference can show.
Are the edits permanent in the output file?
Yes. On download the new text is part of the page and the old text is removed from the file, so the PDF opens the same way on any device.
Can I highlight text or draw on the PDF?
No. The editor changes text only — there are no highlight, shape or drawing tools. To mark a copy, add a text watermark with PDF Watermark; to sign, use Sign PDF.
Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?
Yes, that is what it does: double-click a line, type the new wording and apply. The replacement is written in the same place at the same size and colour, and the old text is removed rather than covered, so table lines, shading and images around it stay as they were. To rewrite whole pages, convert with PDF to Word, edit there and convert back.
Does it work on a scanned PDF?
No. A scan is a picture of the page and holds no text to edit. Extract the text first with Image to Text (OCR), or convert the file with PDF to Word.
