About Arabic Spell Checker

Arabic has a handful of spelling rules that almost every writer breaks, and none of them is about vocabulary. The hamza on an initial alif is dropped (انا for أنا, الى for إلى), or added where it does not belong (الإستخدام for الاستخدام); a feminine ending is typed as ha (المدرسه); ya and alif maqsura swap places (فى, علي الطاولة); the conjunction wa is cut off its word (و لا) while إن شاء الله is glued into one. Phone keyboards make all of it worse. This checker is built for exactly those errors.
Every correction is shown where it happened, in green, and each carries the rule behind it: hamzat al-qat‘ or al-wasl, ta marbuta, alif maqsura, spacing, spelling or punctuation. Tap a correction to undo it and it turns back into your own word; the text you copy or download is rebuilt from your original plus the corrections you kept, so a change you did not want can never slip into it.
The engine is SWEET, a text-editing model published at ACL 2025 by CAMeL Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi: AraBERT fine-tuned on QALB, a corpus of real Arabic comments corrected by professional annotators. Instead of rewriting the sentence, it predicts an edit for every piece of every word — keep, replace this letter, insert that one — so it cannot invent content. It runs twice over the text, as its authors recommend, and a short dictionary of common non-words catches what it leaves, such as انتضار, ظابط or مسؤل.
Measured on 23 September 2026 with this exact engine: 37 of 38 sentences written with typical errors came back exactly right; 30 correct sentences — Quranic verses with full diacritics, poetry, news, Egyptian dialect, English words, links and numbers — came back untouched; and on 1,048 news sentences with errors added, 91% of its corrections were right and it found 91% of the mistakes. Diacritics, digits, emoji, Latin words and line breaks in your text are left exactly as they were.
Punctuation is handled in two layers. The Arabic comma and question mark, and the spacing around them, are fixed for every text. Commas and full stops inside sentences are a matter of style, so a second model suggests them only when you tick the option. The whole check runs on our own server: the text is not sent to an outside AI service, not stored and not used for training.

How do I check Arabic spelling online for free?
Paste the text into the box at the top of this page and click Check spelling. The text goes through a language model trained to correct Arabic spelling, then through a list of the words most often misspelled, and every correction appears in place with the reason for it. There is no sign-up, the everyday use is free, and the text is not kept after it is checked.
Which Arabic spelling mistakes does it correct?
The ones writers make every day: a dropped hamza on the alif (انا → أنا, الى → إلى); a hamza written on a connecting alif (الإستخدام → الاستخدام); ta marbuta written as ha (المدرسه → المدرسة); ya and alif maqsura confused (علي الطاولة → على الطاولة, فى → في); words run together or split (انشاءالله → إن شاء الله, و لا → ولا); letter errors (هاذا → هذا, لاكن → لكن, انتضار → انتظار); and a Latin comma or question mark inside Arabic text.
Does it also correct Arabic grammar?
It corrects some of the common grammar slips that appear in everyday writing, because the model learned from texts that linguists corrected by hand. It is a spelling tool first, though: points that need the full meaning of the sentence — case endings in every position, number agreement in every construction — are not guaranteed, so read an official letter through once more before you send it.
How accurate is it?
On 38 sentences written with the errors people actually make, it returned 37 exactly right. On 30 correct sentences — Quranic verses with full diacritics, poetry, news, Egyptian dialect, English words, links and numbers — it changed nothing. On 1,048 news sentences with typical errors added, 91% of its changes were right and it caught 91% of the errors. Those tests were run on 23 September 2026 with the exact engine this page uses.
Does it work on Egyptian or Gulf dialect?
Yes, for spelling. The model learned from real comments written by readers from across the Arab world, dialect included, so a correctly spelled dialect word (إزيك, النهارده, مبسوط) is left as it is and the words around it are corrected. It does not turn dialect into Modern Standard Arabic: it is a spell checker, not a translator.
Is my text stored or used for training?
No. The text is sent to our server, corrected by a model that runs on that server — not by another company's API — and returned to you. It is not written to a database or a log and it is not used to train anything; only its length and the time taken are recorded.
How do I check Arabic spelling in Word?
In Word, open Review → Language → Set Proofing Language, choose an Arabic variant, then run Review → Spelling & Grammar (F7); Arabic proofing only works when the Arabic proofing tools of Office are installed, and it underlines a word without saying why. For a long text it is often quicker to paste it here, apply the corrections and paste it back.
