About Discord Fonts

Confileo's Discord Fonts tool generates fonts for Discord nicknames, display names, status and About Me, where markdown does not work. Everything runs in your browser, free and without signup, and your files are deleted automatically after processing.

Discord already has formatting, which makes the reason people look for a Discord font generator easy to miss. Markdown works in messages — two asterisks for bold, one for italic, backticks for code — and it works nowhere else. Your server nickname, your global display name, your custom status, your About Me, a channel name, a forum tag, a role name: none of them run markdown. Type two asterisks in a nickname and everyone sees the asterisks. That gap is what these styles fill.

The two approaches are genuinely different tools and it is worth knowing which one you want. Markdown tells Discord to draw ordinary characters differently, so the underlying text stays plain, stays searchable, and reads normally to a screen reader — that is the right choice inside a message. The styles on this page replace your characters with different Unicode characters that are permanently shaped that way, which is what lets them survive in fields that never had a formatting layer to begin with.

Discord's naming fields do not all follow the same rules, and this catches people out. The username — the unique @handle — is restricted to lowercase letters, numbers, full stops and underscores, so it cannot be styled at all. The global display name and the per-server nickname are separate fields that do accept Unicode, up to 32 characters, and those are where a styled name actually lands. A nickname is per-server, so you can run a gothic name in a gaming server and a plain one where people need to find you in the member list.

Gothic and blackletter are the two most-requested looks here and both are in the featured set for a reason: they are what gaming tags have used since long before Discord existed, and the Fraktur block renders on every current desktop and mobile font. Monospace is the other one worth calling out — Unicode monospace looks like a code block but is not one, so it works in a nickname or a status where a real code block cannot go. Inside an actual message, backticks are better: they get the proper background and stay copy-pasteable as code.

Two practical limits. Glitch text is included at light intensity only in the featured set, because heavy zalgo in a nickname is the thing server moderators most often auto-remove — many communities run bots that strip or rename accounts with excessive combining marks, and some servers require a readable first character. And Discord's member list sorts by the literal characters, so a styled name sorts under whatever Unicode block it came from rather than alphabetically, which is occasionally exactly what someone wants.

The conversion runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, nothing is logged, and no Discord login is involved at any point.

Discord Fonts — Frequently asked questions

Can I use fancy fonts in my Discord username?

Not in the username itself — the unique @handle is limited to lowercase letters, numbers, full stops and underscores. You can style your global display name and your per-server nickname, both of which accept Unicode up to 32 characters. Nicknames are per-server, so you can run a styled name in one community and a plain one in another.

Why does Discord bold markdown not work in my nickname?

Markdown is only parsed inside messages. Nicknames, display names, custom status, About Me, channel names and role names store plain text, so two asterisks appear as two asterisks. That is exactly the gap these styles fill: the characters are permanently bold rather than being marked up as bold.

Will a glitch or zalgo nickname get me removed from a server?

It can. Many servers run moderation bots that rename or strip accounts with excessive combining marks, and some require a readable first character so the member list stays usable. The light glitch intensity passes almost everywhere the heavy one does not, which is why only the light one is in the featured set here.

What is the difference between Unicode monospace and a Discord code block?

A code block is markdown — backticks around the text — so it only works inside a message, but it gets the proper background and the text underneath stays plain and copy-pasteable as real code. Unicode monospace replaces the characters themselves, so it looks like code anywhere, including in a nickname or status where a code block cannot go. Use backticks in messages and the Unicode set everywhere else.
